Take a walk down to our small river for a refreshing dip in the pools and let the resident spa fish clean your feet. Along the river is also a good place to spot monkeys, different birds, butterflies and dragonflies. You can also climb up or down through the rocky river.

Natural Mystic Sanctuary is a great place to spot a wide variety of birds and other wildlife. Bird watching tours can be arranged in the Sinharaja Rain Forest Reserve or the local area.

 

Sinharaja Rainforest Reserve

It takes about 40 minutes to get there and you usually the 6 km hike takes about 5 hours. The length and pace of the walk can be adjusted to suit individual needs. There is a waterfall so take your swimwear if you wish to go for a refreshing dip.

Please let us know as early as possible if you would like to do a tour so we can reserve you a good guide.

Ayurvedic Massage & treatments

Treat yourself with an authentic, traditional ayurvedic full body massage.

Coming from a family of traditional ayurvedic doctors (see picture above, right), Dr. Ranjani (see picture above left) offers a variety of treatments. She uses homemade, complex massage oils made from herbs she finds in the rainforest. You can visit her at her Massage Parlour or she can come to give you a massage at Natural Mystic Sanctuary.

 

The Historic Gatabaruwa Rajamaha Viharaya
of Kotapola

The historic and locally important Gatabaru cave temple with a big reclining Buddha is placed in a very scenic environment, 1500 feet above sea level, between the Rakwana, Sinharaja and Morawaka mountain ranges and is attached to the Diyadawa forest.

 

Uda Walawe National Park

Framed by soaring highlands on it’s northern boundary, Uda Walawe National Park is one of the best places to see wild elephants. Largely comprised of grasslands and bush forest, it is good for game spotting. It is 1.5 hours by car so can be done as a day trip.
